Washington Premier FC and Franklin Pierce SC Announce Alliance

February 2, 2012 – Washington Premier Football Club (WPFC) and Franklin Pierce Soccer Club (FPSC) are pleased to announce the clubs have entered into a strategic alliance. The guiding principle behind this agreement is the shared belief that there is a better way to develop kids as soccer players at every level. Our ultimate goal is to create a love and understanding of the game that lasts a lifetime.

The clubs will maintain separate non-profit status, governing boards, and finances. This alignment is about creating a seamless soccer development model. Under terms of the agreement and building on the great history and strong soccer staff at FPSC, WPFC will provide FPSC with the following support:

  •  Age/Development appropriate Training Curriculum
  •  Coaching Clinics
  •  Coach Mentoring Program
  •  Training Academies – three joint seasonal academies at the WPFC facility
  •  Development teams - joint tryouts for the U-10 age group to form developmental teams
What happens to the “Fury”?
The Fury program is amongst the best select programs in the state. The boards of both clubs agree that the Fury name is a vital piece of FPSC’s past and our shared future. FPSC will still run, at an administrative level, the Fury program, which will in the spirit of partnership and continuity, be known as the “WPFC Fury”. We’re also thrilled to announce that we maintain program stability, as Joel Balmer has agreed to stay on as director of coaching. Joel will join the WPFC staff and be responsible for implementing, with the support of WPFC technical director Seth Spidahl and staff, the programs outlined above. It is important to note that current Fury teams will live on as part of this program.
